This page is prepared for the ANS Rentals website based on the rental agreement style supplied. It should be checked by the business owner and a New Zealand legal adviser before final use.
1. Booking & Hire
- All website booking requests are enquiries only until ANS Rentals confirms vehicle availability.
- The customer must provide correct name, phone number, email address, pickup date, return date, pickup time, return time, selected vehicle, and pickup location.
- Price shown online is an estimate. One day hire is $170. Hire of 2 days or more is calculated at $150 per day. Long term discounts may be available by agreement.
- Insurance and AA roadside assistance are included in the hire price, subject to the signed rental agreement, exclusions, bond, excess, and fair-use conditions.
- ANS Rentals may require driver licence details, bond, deposit, payment, insurance/excess information, and signed hire agreement before vehicle pickup.
2. Hirer Obligations
The hirer must take reasonable care of the vehicle throughout the hire period.
- Maintain water, oil, battery, tyres and vehicle condition at proper levels where reasonably required.
- Keep the vehicle securely locked when not in use.
- Pay the cost of replacement keys if keys are lost, stolen or damaged.
- Pay any cost caused by incorrect fuel, contaminated fuel, misuse, avoidable damage or careless handling.
- Return the vehicle clean, tidy and free from smoke or strong odours.
3. Owner Obligations
- ANS Rentals will supply the vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition.
- ANS Rentals is responsible for ordinary running costs except where the agreement makes those costs payable by the hirer.
- ANS Rentals is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items carried in or on the vehicle.
- Fuel used during the hire period is the responsibility of the hirer unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Mechanical Repairs & Accidents
- If the vehicle is damaged, involved in an accident, breaks down, or requires repair, the hirer must contact ANS Rentals as soon as possible.
- The hirer must not arrange repairs or salvage without permission, except where immediate action is needed to prevent further damage or danger.
- The hirer must not interfere with the odometer, speedometer, engine, transmission, braking system, suspension or any vehicle system except in an emergency.
- Unused hire days may not be refunded where the vehicle is damaged or unavailable due to accident or misuse.
- Replacement vehicle supply is at ANS Rentals’ discretion and may depend on availability, insurance and circumstances.
5. Use of the Vehicle
- The vehicle is provided as self-drive van hire unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- The vehicle must not be sublet, hired to another person, used for unlawful activity, used in a race, speed test, rally or contest, used to tow another vehicle, overloaded, or operated in breach of New Zealand road laws.
- The vehicle must not carry more passengers than the legal seating capacity or more load than the permitted vehicle limit.
- Only authorised drivers with a current and appropriate driver licence may drive the vehicle.
- Smoking is not permitted in the vehicle.
- The vehicle must not be used off-road, on beaches, or in restricted areas unless ANS Rentals gives written approval.
6. Return of Vehicle
- The vehicle must be returned by the agreed return date and time to the agreed location unless ANS Rentals approves an extension.
- Late return may incur extra hire charges.
- If the vehicle is returned smoked in, excessively dirty, or with a strong odour, a cleaning fee may apply.
- ANS Rentals may end the hire and recover the vehicle immediately if the hirer breaches the agreement, fails to return the vehicle, or the vehicle is damaged.
7. Insurance & Liability
Insurance and AA roadside assistance are included in the hire price. Insurance conditions, exclusions, excesses, bonds and liability limits must be confirmed in the signed rental agreement before pickup.
- Insurance cover may not apply where damage or loss is connected to alcohol, drugs, unlicensed driving, reckless use, unsafe operation, unauthorised driver use, racing, overloading, off-road/beach use, breach of road rules, breach of the hire term, or other excluded conduct.
- If the hirer chooses to rely on their own insurance, the hirer may remain responsible for vehicle damage, third-party damage, towing, salvage, lost hire revenue and related costs.
- Any traffic fines, infringement notices, tolls, parking charges and enforcement costs during the hire may be charged to the hirer.
8. Privacy
ANS Rentals collects booking and contact information to respond to enquiries, manage bookings, confirm availability, keep records, and operate the van hire service. Please read our Privacy Policy.
